# Overview Releap Protocol is a decentralized, multi-chain and open-for-all social graph that allows users to wholly own and harness their audience and content. A post made today on Instagram, TikTok, or Twitter belongs to these companies rather than the creator who published it. As a result, these companies largely receive the revenue generated. Conversely, Releap Protocol aims to give creators the freedom to retain ownership over the connections they have built with their audience by creating a fully customizable, user-owned social graph. Users can also utilize the protocol to easily develop their own decentralized, censorship-resistant social networks and marketplaces, or add social functionality to existing applications, with ease. *** ### Built by users, Owned by users Social graphs consist of millions of users across the world, yet social graphs on Web2 are incredibly centralized, defeating the purpose of this immensely powerful network of people. Web2 networks all create their own databases and read from this singular and central database. More importantly, creators do not own their social connections, the network does. This means that creators cannot control, move or harness these social graphs outside of the singular network on which they publish content. This greatly diminishes the essence of these connections and undercuts the creators because of whom they exist. We're building Releap Protocol to work as a communal social blueprint where users can own their individual connections and various applications can build upon this blueprint. This solves mainly two problems: (a) users can own, move and utilize their social connections across a variety of applications throughout the chain and (b) social applications can co-exist and take advantage of a collaborative database allowing them to focus on building for innovative and niche use cases. # Why Web3 Social? ### Storage and Security The centralized storage of data on traditional social media raises concern about the privacy of users and the security of their data. Currently, in order to sign up for any social network, users must provide their phone number, email address, and other details. These records, along with the content published on the platforms are stored on centralized company servers. Web3 social platforms utilize decentralized, permanent storage to store user data. This data exists separately of the social network and cannot be tampered by them. This storage system also reduces data breaches and enhances the overall security. Data on the Releap Protocol is securely stored on Arweave and IPFS. *** ### Censorship-resistant Decentralized social platforms can be a vital tool for protecting the freedom of speech. Users and content producers won't have to worry about their messages or content being deleted or filtered, or worse, having an account they've worked so hard on, permanently shut. Additionally, many people in contemporary countries still endure political censorship or are barred from speaking their minds regarding national leaders and policies. With decentralized social platforms, creators have greater ownership and control over their content and network participants can manage the content instead of a company. *** ### Future of Creator Economy Decentralized SocialFi platforms are set to usher in the future of creator economy. At present, creators on Web2 platforms are only compensated adequately if they are highly successful; this creators a lot of pressure on creators, especially while functioning in a space plagued by cancel culture and erratic algorithms. The monetization of content also tends to be very unfair because ownership and control lies with the platform on which it is published. SocialFi networks building on Web3 provide multiple avenues for new ways for monetization of content such as tipping, posts as collectible NFTs and more. Giving creators back control and ownership over their creativity and networks is crucial to the building of creator economy. # Abstract Releap Protocol aims to provide creators with ownership of their relationships with their community, establishing a completely composable, decentralized social network. This is accomplished by permitting users to construct profiles and engage with each other through these profiles. In this context, "Profile" pertains to Releap profiles, whereas "user" pertains to standard crypto-wallets. The protocol is designed with modularity as a fundamental concept. At present, the Releap Protocol is administered by a multisig, which will eventually transition to a broader DAO that can design, and vote on new modules and expanded features. *** ### Architecture Firstly, let's examine the creation and publishing of profiles. Users are required to establish a profile on the hub, after which they receive an NFT sequentially linked to their profile. This NFT regulates the profile, effectively making the user the profile's controller. Profile owners have the ability to: * Publish to the profile with three types of publications: * Posts, which are standard content pieces * Comments, which are standard content pieces linked to another publication * Set the profile's image URI * Set the profile's "delegator", which is an address that can act on behalf of the profile's owner by publishing to the given profile and setting its URI *** ### Tokenization Releap Protocol involves tokenzation through NFT that are fully composable. The Releap Hub upgradeable contract is the main point of entry for most interactions within the protocol. It also acts as a Sui contract for profile NFTs, which are created when a user creates a profile. *** Releap Protocol is a social graph protocol that is designed to be owned by the community and continuously evolving. It empowers its users to determine how they want their social graph to be constructed and how it can be monetized, if they so choose. In addition, the protocol is built with modularity in mind, which means that it can support a wide range of use cases. From a user's perspective, this means that they have a new way of customizing and owning their social graph, which would not have possible or affordable with Web2 technology. # Concepts Learn more about the components of the Releap Protocol # Profile Releap Protocol's primary component is the Profile NFT, which grants control over your content. `Profile NFT`s are owned by individual addresses, and a single address can possess multiple `Profile NFT`s. What sets the Releap `Profile NFT` apart from other on-chain identities is its ability to publish content. It stores all of your posts, reposts, comments, and other generated content. `A Profile NFT` contains a list of followers that Profile follows. Governance whitelists addresses for `Profile NFT` minting to prevent domain squatting in the low-fee environment on Sui. Each piece of content associated with a profile can be its own NFT linked to the creator. These NFTs will be stored permanently on the Sui network. These `Content NFT` will open more avenues for creators to monetize their work, reward users and much more. # Comment Comments make posts special, it brings a unique social aspect to content sharing; with Releap Protocol these comments can function as unique NFTs associated with the post under which they are made. Comments can also be customized or restricted to reward users or enhance experience. For example, only users who have been following a profile for more than 6 months can comment on a post. # Applications The application layer is one of the most important components of the Releap Protocol. Applications allow users to interact with the open social graph of the Protocol. Building applications on the Releap Protocol is very easy and allows them to take full advantage of the shared social graph. Every app on the Releap Protocol gets complete access to the user base and material available on it. As a result, launching a new product is easier because the existing social graphs can be seamlessly added to new applications.
